Make Music. Make History. Make A Difference.
The Scout Music House Committee is working with Athens Arts League and the City of Athens, Alabama, to restore the 1938 Scout House on Washington Street in downtown Athens. This unused historic structure will tentatively open in 2019 as a music venue with house concerts and music-related workshops where students received hands-on opportunities marketing, setting up and recording. The venue will pay tribute to Limestone County's musical heritage and be the home to the Patti Malone portrait, our First Lady of Music in Limestone County. Athens Arts League wants to empower youth by offering them the opportunity to learn about local music history, making music, and the music business. Athens Arts League also wants to enhance the community's art experience by providing a venue for house concerts, workshops, and other musical programs. And lastly, Athens Arts League wants to preserve our county's musical heritage and history of the Scout House.
To those of us who were born in the forties and grew up in the fifties, the Scout House represented camaraderie and recreation!
